Ambassador Interviews: Dana on Running a Blog!

One of our ambassadors, Dana, runs a very successful blog you may have heard of, EqStyleTheory. We were able to sit down with her and learn a bit about what it takes to run a blog, and what inspired her!

Horseplay: What gave you the idea to start your blog, @eqstyletheory, and what were some of the first steps you took in starting it?

Dana: I wanted to create a blog to unify the equestrian community. I found that as I was starting my certification processes I was learning so many things that I didn't even think of before which later inspired me to create blogs all about them.

Horseplay: How do you balance a busy schedule of school and running a successful blog?

Dana: Balancing my schedule is no easy task. Not only do I have school, but also riding, Tae Kwon Do, dance, circus, and modeling (my other sports). The best way to maintain timing is make yourself a calendar and check list to make sure you're staying on top of everything! Leave extra time for anything that may come up out of the blue!

Horseplay: You've interviewed some amazing brands! What have you most

enjoyed about that process?

Dana: My favorite part about interviews is learning what goes on behind the scenes. It baffles me that these huge companies started off small and due to community support grew into what they are today. Learning about the obstacles that the owners have overcome inspires me to plan ahead for the blog as well.

Horseplay: What has been the most stressful part of operating your blog?

Dana: I think the most stressful part about blogging will always be the public opinion, I have yet to come out with a personal blog due to my fear of criticism! It's my not so secret weakness. Christy and I strive to create non biased and helpful blogs that will please the entire equestrian community as well as inform them.

Horseplay: What are your goals for the future of EqStyleTheory?

Dana: My goal for EqStyleTheory is just to grow. I think our major purpose is to

help other companies grow, and with them, us as well. I would also love to eventually partner with a magazine or apparel company to create a more tangible production of the company. Being online is great, but it limits our audience.
